Judith Tieman Bird

Judith brought more than 30 years experience tracking Capitol Square activities to The Hannah Report when she joined the reporting staff in 2002. She has focused on human services, state budgeting and nonprofit issues. Judith became publisher of The Hannah Report in 2007. She also writes and edits The Capitol Monitor which covers human service and nonprofit issues exclusively since it was launched in 2002.

Judith earned a bachelor’s degree in education with a major in English from Capital University and a master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. For over 30 years, she wrote Ohio United Way’s Legislative Bulletin which tracked human service legislation for service providers and volunteers around the state.

She is married and has two sons and a foster daughter.

Paul Teasley

Paul has been editor of The Hannah Report since 2005 where he focuses on the courts, criminal justice, PK-12 and higher education, government audits and economic development.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree magna cum laude in English from the University of Houston Honors College and a master’s degree in English from Miami University (Ohio). His professional journey encompassed adult education, certified quality control, social service management, big-city news, and the law. Paul is former news bureau chief of Westwood One – Columbus and former audit reporting manager for Bracewell & Giuliani.

Paul lives in Clintonville with his wife, Terri, and his Sheltie, Sampson, and daughter. He enjoys cycling, Texas blues, and all kinds of people, and is a member of Xenos Christian Fellowship in Columbus.

Shane Stegmiller

Shane Stegmiller has been a reporter with Hannah News Service since 2003. He covers elections and transportation, among other areas. He is responsible for the Rotunda Insider and Ohio News Wire, services of Hannah News.

He previously worked for Capitolwire, a legislative news service formerly owned by the Associated Press, and for the Marion Star, where he covered the court system. He has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Ohio State University.

A native of Columbus, he is married and has one daughter.

Nicole D’Alonzo

Nicole D’Alonzo focuses on energy (utility and fuel), agriculture and environmental issues in the General Assembly including the corresponding regulatory state and federal agencies. She also edits the Capitol Review, a weekly summary of all state and legislative activity. She joined Hannah News in July 2007.

Nicole worked for NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA as a public relations specialist, where she represented NASA and the Armed Services regarding new research created by the Technology Applications and Space and Atmospheric Sciences groups.

Prior to that time she worked as a press clerk for the Ohio General Assembly (1992-1994). Nicole got her start as a staff reporter with Suburban News Publications, covering local government issues around Central Ohio. She graduated from the Ohio State University, School of Journalism in 1991 with a bachelor’s degree in newswriting and news-editing.

She lives in Powell with her two children, Jordan and Cade.

Noah Blundo

Noah Blundo is a general-assignment reporter who often covers health- and health care-related legislation, public pension funds and the Ohio Elections Commission. He also is involved in compiling and updating the legislative hearing schedule and writing the Week in Review section of The Hannah Report. He joined the Hannah News staff in February 2008.

Noah previously worked as a reporter, copy editor and page designer at The Times-Reporter in New Philadelphia. Before that, he was an intern at The Columbus Dispatch and The Vindicator in Youngstown, and he worked at The Post, Ohio University’s independent student newspaper. He graduated in 2006 with a journalism degree from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism and the Honors Tutorial College at Ohio University.

He lives in Clintonville with his wife, Elizabeth.

Ashley Bird

Ashley Bird has been a part-time reporter for The Hannah Report for over six years, since 2004, where he has focused on environmental, energy and technology issues. He covers other stories and hearings of the Ohio Legislature as needed. This has included covering six annual meetings of the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL).

Prior to joining Hannah News, Ashley was employed as an engineer and manager with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency for over 22 years. His previous experience also includes work as a consulting engineer in water resources and the power industry, and research related to offshore oil structures.

Ashley is a Vietnam War veteran, where he served in the U.S. Navy Seabees as a senior petty officer. He also served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Malaysia, working as an engineer on fishing port development and irrigation projects. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from Arizona State University and a Ph.D. in civil engineering from Northwestern University. He is married and has two sons and a foster daughter.
